Kaleidoscopic sands, crystal blue water, and rainforests bustling with native wildlife - Fraser Island is where desert, rainforest, and ocean collide. Known by the traditional Butchalla owners as K’Gari, or paradise, the Island truly lives up to its title. The largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island is a land of superlatives – vast stretches of sand, the best whale watching in the country, and some of the purest water in the world. Sculpted by millennia of surf and wind, sunburnt cliffs encircle a paradise of ancient rainforests, freshwater lakes, and vast sand dunes. Only on Fraser Island can you hike over sand dunes, decompress in a natural jacuzzi, and spot a pod of whales all in one day. Guided by a renowned photographer and creative you’ll experience a masterclass in underwater and wildlife photography, all whilst soaking up the unique marvels of Fraser Island.

location

We’ll be staying at a beach resort, the perfect base for exploring Fraser Island. Located on the Island’s famous 75-mile beach, the resort is flanked by pristine waters and verdant rainforest. While the resort has everything you’ll need on site – its own restaurant, two pools, a BBQ facility, and more - it’s also a stones-throw away from the town’s local shops and restaurants if you feel like venturing out for the night. The resort’s beach style accommodation varies in size to cater to all budgets and needs.

faq’s

How do I get there?

Fraser Island is several hours drive from Brisbane Airport, or just a short flight away. Both Qantas and Virgin run regular flights from Brisbane Airport to Hervey Bay.

From here, most travellers reach Fraser Island by ferry. There are two barge services – the Manta Barge or the Fraser Island Ferry that run regular daily services. We recommend checking the ferry schedule for more accurate times before arriving, as travel times can vary according to times and the season. If you feel like splurging, you can touch down on onto 75-mile beach in the tiny Fraser Island Sea Plane.

Can I come solo or with friend or a partner?

Both! solo travellers will immediately connect with the group under the bubbly stewardship of Saxon, and friends will likewise have a great time connecting with the group. if you're coming with a friend, and want to be roomed together, let us know in the rooming configuration box at purchase. if you're coming with a partner (or someone you're close enough to share a double bed with), let us know at time of booking and we will contact you with further details.

What do I pack?

While the island does have general stores, we recommend bringing everything you’ll need for a three-day island escape, as prices are generally higher here and certain items more difficult to find. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as we’ll be doing plenty of adventuring through the island’s rainforests and dunes, as well as sun-protection (wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, light clothes for covering up), and insect repellent.

Do I bring my own equipment?

Yes please – bring your camera and lenses and tripods. Whether you have a gopro, drone, dslr or iphone - bring it all!

I have no experience in photography – can I still come?

The trip is open to all levels, and beginners to advanced will benefit from the training.

Will I have downtime?

While we do have lots of things planned, there will be time to chill and read a book on your deck or go for long country walks. the activities are of course optional, so if you feel you want to sit one out, just let us know!

Will there be alcohol?

We won't be providing alcohol, but you can for sure bring drinks to have with dinner!

Is it COVID safe?

We have a Covid-Safe plan and will be watching the border and health situation very closely. Rest assured that if covid impacts the trip we will postpone to a later date, and if that isn’t feasible, we will offer refunds.

How do I pay to confirm my place?

You have two options: pay in full or pay the $500 deposit. if you pay the deposit, we will require payment in full 25 days prior to the trip start date.
