FAQs

what if Covid affects the trip?

we will be watching the international border and health situation very closely. rest assured that if COVID impacts the majority of travellers we will postpone to a later date.

how to get there?

you can either fly into the ulaanbaatar chinggis khaan international airport located southwest of the capital city of ulaanbaatar, or can arrive by train via the trans-mongolian railway from russia or china.

what is the accommodation like?

most of the ger camps have a simple bed and shared outdoor squat toilets, but please be aware there will be limited shower use as the water is often solar heated and not necessarily available every day. be prepared to share a ger with a mixed gender group. however, during homestays you will be embracing life like your nomad hosts, so beds may be mattresses on the floor in a shared ger and no bathroom facilities are available. please note that between days 5-7 you will not have access to electricity so ensure that your power banks and electronics are fully charged.

can i come solo or with a friend or a partner?

Both! Solo travellers will immediately connect with the group through the many activities we’ll be doing together, and friends will likewise have a great time connecting with the group. If you’re coming with a friend and want to be roomed together, let us know in the rooming configuration box at purchase. If you’re coming with a partner (or someone you’re close enough to share a double bed with), let us know at time of booking and we will contact you with further details.

do I need a visa?

all foreign citizens need a visa for mongolia for tourism. Depending on your nationality, you can either apply online for a tourist e-visa or may need a visa for tourism issued by a diplomatic government office. please have a look at this website to determine which visa you are allowed to apply for: https://www.onlinevisa.com/visa-policy/mongolia/

what will the weather be like?

there are 250 sunny days a year with clear cloudless skies in mongolia. we will be visiting mongolia in summer, the most pleasant time of the year. The average temperature is around 25 to 30 degrees, but nights cool down to 11 degrees. The weather is quite unpredictable in mongolia, and there are often brief rain showers during this time.

what should i pack?

please bring a sleeping bag to use for your homestay. we will be doing some hiking so definitely bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. bring light, breathable clothing for the day but also some warmer layers for night time. otherwise, be sure to bring everything you’ll need for a ten-day mongolian adventure. of course do not forget your camera!
