Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, Peru
Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain was discovered four years ago in Peru when the snow melted and revealed the natural beauty of the rock underneath. The colours of Rainbow Mountain are made up of 14 different colourful minerals, formed by weathering, environmental conditions and sedimentary deposits over time. The colours range from rust to custard with green turquoise, blues, gold, lavender, and towering into the sky. But the weather in Peru changes so rapidly, you may experience everything from snow to hail to sun in an hour. If you are a hiking beginner, you might rent a horse at any point on the way, and make sure you trek Rainbow Mountain between March and November.
